Basic Clinical Sciences

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences is dedicated to training competent doctors with strong ethical principles and professional values. Our mission is supported by a vision to be one of the best Basic Clinical Sciences Faculties worldwide. We are guided by core values of Integrity, Dexterity, Professionalism, Discipline, and Excellence.

The faculty comprises essential medical departments, which are grouped under Pathology and Pharmacology. These include:

  • Chemical Pathology, which focuses on biochemical tests such as diagnosing diabetes and liver diseases.
  • Anatomical Pathology, which involves understanding morphological changes in diseased organs.
  • Haematology and Blood Transfusion (including Immunology), studying blood, blood-forming organs, and providing safe blood.
  • Medical Microbiology and Parasitology trains students to identify and isolate various microorganisms.
  • Pharmacology and Therapeutics, which examines drugs, their effects, and the development of new treatments.
    We teach year four medical students for about 12 months, preparing them for the Part 2 MBBS final exams.
