About the Faculty
The Faculty of Dentistry at BMU was established in 2022, following approval by the University Council and a recommendation by the Senate. Supported by the Bayelsa State Government, the faculty comprises five departments and is dedicated to training Dental Surgeons to meet the needs of the state's growing population. Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to practice at both primary and secondary care levels.
The Faculty has secured accreditation for its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Degree programme. This accreditation was given by the National Universities Commission and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
The five departments in the faculty are:

- Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Department of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine
- Department of Preventive Dentists
- Department of Restorative Dentistry
