About the Program

At Bayelsa Medical University, our Human Nutrition and Dietetics program transforms scientific knowledge into practical health solutions that address Nigeria's nutritional challenges. Over four academic years (three for Direct Entry), you'll master evidence-based approaches to food science, clinical dietetics, and community nutrition through rigorous academic training and extensive fieldwork.

Curriculum

The curriculum follows the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (NUC-CCMAS) for Human Nutrition and Dietetics

Admission Criteria

UTME Entry (4-Year Programme)
To qualify for admission through UTME, candidates must:

  1. Present credits in five O'Level subjects (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) at not more than two sittings, including:

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

    • Biology

    • Chemistry

    • Physics

  2. Meet all departmental and faculty requirements

Direct Entry (3-Year Programme)
Candidates may gain admission through:

  1. A'Level/JUPEB with a minimum of 9 points in:

    • Biology

    • Chemistry

    • Physics/Mathematics

  2. OND/HND in Food Science, Home Economics, or related fields (Minimum Lower Credit)

  3. All Direct Entry candidates must possess the five O'Level credits specified above

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years old by the admission year

  • Medical fitness certification is required upon registration

  • All credentials are subject to verification
