About the Program

The B.Sc. in Health Care Administration and Hospital Management is a dynamic and interdisciplinary four-year degree program designed to prepare students for leadership and administrative roles in healthcare settings. It blends foundational knowledge in health sciences with advanced principles of management, public health, policy development, and healthcare systems operations.

Throughout the program, students will gain critical competencies in healthcare planning, hospital operations, human resource management, health information systems, medical ethics, and quality assurance. A strong emphasis is placed on understanding Nigeria’s health system and developing leadership capacity to improve service delivery in both public and private healthcare institutions.

With hands-on training through internships, case studies, and administrative simulations, students will be equipped to manage hospital departments, coordinate health services, and implement strategic improvements in healthcare environments.

By the end of the program, students will be proficient in designing and managing health programs, conducting healthcare audits, evaluating organizational performance, and fostering collaboration across departments in complex clinical and non-clinical settings.

Curriculum

The curriculum adheres to the NUC Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (NUC-CCMAS) for undergraduate training in Health Care Administration and Hospital Management in Nigeria. It includes both theoretical and practical components that build professional capacity for managing healthcare institutions.

Admission Criteria

UTME Entry (4-Year Programme)
To qualify for admission through UTME, candidates must:

  • Present credits in five (5) O'Level subjects (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) at not more than two sittings, including:
    • English Language
    • Mathematics
    • Biology
    • Economics or Government
    • Any other relevant subject (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Commerce)
  • Meet all other departmental and faculty requirements

Direct Entry (3-Year Programme)
Candidates may gain admission through:

  • A'Level/JUPEB with a minimum of 8 points in relevant subjects such as:
    • Biology
    • Economics
    • Mathematics
  • OND/HND in Health Administration, Public Health, or related disciplines with at least Lower Credit
  • NCE or equivalent qualifications in related fields
  • All Direct Entry candidates must also possess the five O'Level credits as specified for UTME entry

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years old by the admission year
  • Medical fitness certification is required upon admission
  • All submitted credentials are subject to verification
